Cornerstone Christian Counseling - Supporting First Responders: Nurturing Their Well-Being and Ours

Together, we will explore themes and strategies for supporting first responders, including the importance of trauma-informed care. Additionally, we will address the need for self-care and support for those who compassionately care for responders, enabling us to nurture both the well-being of responders and our own.

  • Rich Vigil, MA, LPCC - A first responder with 30 years of law-enforcement experience, my career was cut short due to a tragic on duty incident leaving me with limited visibility in one eye. Through that experience, I discovered the importance of mental health through counseling and am now a therapist for first responders.

  • Victoria Renken, MS, LPCC, NCC, PMH-C, CFRA  - A certified perinatal mental health counselor and certified first responder associate therapist, I am passionate about providing empathic and authentic counseling to individuals who often seek support due to the challenges associated with their roles or careers, including parents and first responders.

Mind Spa - Healing & Rewiring the Brain: Breakthrough Treatments for PTSD, TBI & Depression in First Responders

  • For too long, first responders have been told to talk it out or take a pill. But when trauma, or chronic stress causes inflammation in the brain, traditional therapies often fall short.

This talk is about what’s really going on under the surface—the cellular damage, disrupted brain circuits, and neuroinflammation that can make PTSD, TBI, and depression feel impossible to overcome. And more importantly, it’s about the breakthrough treatments that are changing that story.

You’ll learn how therapies like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Ketamine Infusion, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) are helping firefighters, officers, and medics heal their brains and reclaim their lives—not over months or years, but in weeks.

If you’re tired of seeing your team or yourself struggle without real relief, come learn about the science-backed solutions that are finally making a difference. This is not just about coping—it’s about truly recovering.

Commanders, Chiefs, Leaders—this is the mental health conversation we’ve been waiting to have.

  • Sam J. Peterson – a former Army bomb technician and combat veteran who turned personal struggle into purpose after nearly losing his life to PTSD. He now leads cutting-edge programs that deliver rapid, lasting relief for veterans and first responders battling PTSD, TBI, and depression. As co-founder of Mind Spa Denver and co-founder of Patriot PowerUp, Sam uses advanced therapies like TMS, ketamine, and neurorehabilitation to treat the root causes of trauma. His mission is simple: provide the life-saving care our nation’s heroes deserve—fast, effective, and built by someone who’s been in their boots.

Jeff Marr – “It’s not If, it’s When.”

A former Colorado Law Enforcement Officer engaging and thought-provoking conversations that blend real-world law enforcement expertise with practical strategies. My mission is to empower leaders to protect their legacy while building it.
