Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

Status: Code 4, Inc. (SC4i) is partnering with Pikes Peak Suicide Prevention Partners to offer Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). 

ASIST is a two-day workshop designed for individuals interested in learning more about suicide prevention. In this evidence-based training, you will learn suicide first-aid techniques to help a person with thoughts of suicide stay safe and seek further help as needed. Participants learn to use a suicide intervention model to:

·       Identify persons with thoughts of suicide

·       Seek a shared understanding of reasons for dying and living

·       Develop a safe plan based upon a review of risk

·       Prepare for follow-up

·       Become involved in suicide-safer community networks

Through local grant awards, we are able to provide these course offerings. ASIST is a 2-day class, and these class offerings will be specifically for the First Responder community.  Each class is limited to 20 participants.

·       Course Date(s): June 25 - 26, 2022 or July 6 - 7, 2022

·       Course time: The workshop will begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm each day.

·       Audience: First Responders and/or their family members.  Participants must be 16 years or older

·       Location: El Paso - Teller County 9-1-1 Authority, 2350 Airport Road, Colorado Springs CO

·       Instructors: TBD

There is no fee required for this course and materials, snacks and lunch will be provided. Please note, you must attend the training in its entirety to receive a certificate.
